Cross Country Cake

I know, this totally has nothing to do with Christmas, but is still something I wanted to share. My daughter Mallory ran Cross Country this past fall and we celebrated the season with a banquet.
One of the other creative moms came up with is awesome cake! She purchased 2 sheet cakes, undecorated, and embellished them on her own. The hills are 2 mounds of rice crispie treats and the whole thing was covered in green grass frosting. She made the starting line out of pretzel rods and fondant and even made the "shoot" the runners finish in out of red licorice.

She sprinkled mini edible leaves everywhere and created a trail with brown frosting, graham cracker crumbs and crushed Oreos.

And to top it all off, she cut out photos of each runner and placed them on the coarse (she took all of the photos herself too).

The cake was a total hit, delicious, and created a great memory for a great season. She even included a shot of the coach yelling at the finish line!

Sorry for lack of posts here lately. The Christmas season has got me pretty busy filling orders and painting away. Please keep stopping back!
