Garage Sale

My daughters and their good friends have been planning to have a garage sale for an entire YEAR.  They sorted through toy boxes, closets, and drawers and priced up a bunch of their toys to sell.

Preparing for the sale was a lot of work for us parents, but it motivated me to get rid a bunch of stuff, too.  So, we picked the same date as our citywide garage sales, made some signs, and set up shop.

Look at how busy we were.... I think our dog, Brady, sleeping in the middle of the sale was a perfect comment to how it went.

Turns out, we did sell a few larger items & furniture, but couldn't give a TV away.  Well, actually, we DID give a TV away... to the neighbor kid.  Everything left over got loaded up and delivered to Goodwill and the kids were pleased with a little extra cash in their pockets.

And Brady was pretty tired from the excitement!

I love going to garage sale and was able to find a few treasures myself.  Stay tuned to see what I end up doing to these....
A lightweight set of drawers with decals...

And two solid wood nightstands.  Everyone has a place for these!
Thanks for visiting!

SummerFair 2011

I had the pleasure of participating in Summerfair this past weekend located at Coney Island in Cincinnati.  I have never been a vendor at that show before so it was hard to know what to expect.

The crowd was pretty good, but it was so darn hot!

I painted extra furniture pieces and sort of neglected my Christmas ornament inventory.  See my tiny tree display?  So, guess what I sold out of.....Christmas ornaments!  Darn, if only I had stayed up later, painting a few more spoons and keys!

So, those of you who are interested, I still have the following pieces of furniture up for grabs!

I do not have another art show planned until October, so I am looking into options to display my work until then.  But that gives me a lot of time to come up with new projects and ideas!  You can find my smaller painted items in my esty shop, www.coriekline.etsy.com.   Thanks for looking and keep stopping back!

More Safari Rooms!

An Okapi?  Really?  Yes!

This boy's room was given an updated look by taking his nursery theme (jungle animals) and tweaking them so they are very realistic and more importantly, include his favorites!  The boy had a giraffe, hippo, lion, etc. painted by someone else on his wall for his nursery. After priming over the animals and painting the room blue, I came in and added the new look.

The boy loves okapi's, so that gave me the opportunity to paint my first one!  I think he looks pretty velvety.

A tiger guards the corner under a tree.  A different look then ones I've painted in the past (looking off to the side).

An iguana hangs from a branch overlooking a spectacled caiman near the ground.

And on the adjacent wall, I've included a komodo dragon. Very unusual!

So, the next time you are considering a jungle themed room, the possibilities go beyond the typical giraffe and elephant!

And while we are talking about animals....

I have to share that our pet bunny of 6 years died last week.  Pennington, our free bunny we picked up spontaneously at a garage sale (named Penny until we found out he was a boy).  He was so soft and loved bananas and dandelions.  We will miss you, Pennington!

Wyoming Art Show

Well, another year of rain for the Madeira Art Show, but I'm holding out hope for my next one in Wyoming.  The Wyoming Art Show is a juried show filled with high quality artists and is held along a residential street with beautiful homes.  Stop out to see my work (below) and enjoy the day shopping, eating the food from local vendors, and being creative in the awesome Children's Tent.  The show is Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 11am-5pm.  My booth # is 102.  For more information, check our their website at www.wyomingartshow.org.  See you there!

Here are some before and after projects!

A unique telephone chair with a vintage look!

A simple end table with a beach flair!

An antique children's chair jazzed up with the lyrics to "It's a Small World."

This narrow dresser needed a lot of love (and glue and wood filler and sanding), but I knew it could be super cool!  It turned out really sharp and each crystal knob is unique!

It would look great in any room!

And a simple bar stool with a charming lighthouse scene.

Look for these items at the Wyoming Art Show or contact me if you're interested!
Have a great day!
